Confluence, a digital nerve centre

The Confluence district will be home to the Lyon French Tech headquarters (France’s #2 digital hub), which will be located in the heart of the Champ neighbourhood, in the Halle Girard.

Arty Farty (the cultural association that manages Nuits Sonores and European Lab), 1Kubator (France’s #1 network for entrepreneurs) and Groupe SOS (support for social entrepreneurship) will manage the venue. The arrival of French Tech HQ in Confluence endorses the role the district is playing in the development of an innovative digital ecosystem, the purpose of which is to galvanize the territory’s various activities: housing, health, mobility.

With the Lyon French Tech hq and its current (and future) ecosystem, the district is a veritable pillar of the Smart City today, and it plays a key role in promoting this on an international scale. It is currently home to the Clust’R Numérique (digital cluster), one of France’s largest clusters, with over 300 members and 22, 000 employees. Xavier Niel’s Ecole 42 will open a sister school welcoming 300 students in September 2017, adding to the training opportunities in IT coding currently supplied by the Wild Code School.

Federate, accelerate, promulgate

The Halle Girard highlights the privileged professional environment the district offers and the variety of dynamic actors present. Indeed, it is an extension of the Lyon French Tech headquarters itself: a place where cultural, creative and social economics intersect to serve the motto: “Federate, accelerate and promulgate.” This 3800 sq. m space encourages discussion and exchange and will be divided into meeting space, event space and offices to host some forty start-ups. It will be ready in 2018.
